I recently did a track over Jay-z and Kanye West's track titled, New Day. As I grow with my music you'll hear about the good things in my life because the good times are to be shared and people are inspired by good things...

They say all you can do is take a horse to the water but can't make the horse drink it. It's not regular that I do tracks like this one...I prefer not to because writing a verse like the one shared make me upset while writing / discussing them for personal reasons, but, it's hard not to do the tracks because the messages are to be shared with those and put out for those who need to hear it. If you want to inspire someone that needs this track share it with them and hope justice get done.

When I was a full time professional photographer, I studied new ways to express what I want the views to feel. Now that I'm a full time alternative rap / hip-hop musician I'm using the same method of, always learning, being creative and striving to be better. The striving to be better part is not only for my arts it's also as a person. Figuring out, by living and doing, failing, failing and strategizing from my mistakes in order to become a wiser person / for me to understand me a lot more and what I'm capable of doing. They say, you can choose who you want to become by going after what you want to become. The trick to it is not to look, but to use what you have and grow...okay let's jump off of my small emotional violin talk and move the fuck on yeah?

From here on I'll share the lyrics withe the track for you to read then below you can play the song from the embedded YouTube link at the bottom of the post; press play and enjoy.

Jay-z feat Kanye West - New Day (D. Tucker) Lyrics:

This is a black tie event I call it luxury rap,
I'm so tired and sick,
sick and tired of the crap,
sick and tired of the shit,
yeah that's it,
no filtering, like bad joints,
I hope the message in these lyrics
gets your joints moving,
get your head nodding,
get your head bobbing,
until it falls off,
put a new one on it,
put your middle fingers up and say fuck your old life if you're not living right,
and don't give me that bull shit but I'm just on my hood shit.
It's time to put the hood where the trunks at,
I'm talking porsches,
I'm talking posh,
I'm talking porches,
with the ocean in your view with your girl in the room with her feet up watching Whoopie on the view and yeah the world will honor you, but it's on to you,
to make it better for yourself, to build your wealth, I heard Pharrell once said in an interview, that wealth's in your mind and your heart, not in your pocket,
do something,
be something,
create something,
show the whole fucking world that you are something,
fathers, it's now time to be fathers to your sons,
mothers, be mothers to your daughters,
and I don't have a kid yet but I'm looking from the outside in,
I know this is some shit,
that some would say that this' some shit without no assumption,
and that there be some dumb shit,
that some would say that this' some shit without no assumption,
let me ask yall something,
Tu Familia" aint familiar?
When was the last time,
Tu Abuelo,
Tu Abuela,
Tu Mama,
Tu Papa,
Tu Tio,
Tu Tia,
Tu Hermana,
Tu Hermano,
Sat down and ate supper mother fuckers?

With the help of Refine Grind, YachtLife fans / the people that believe in me and my statement, ethics and excellence for achievements, as of today (February 2nd, 2012), my first music video, for the track, Love It Hate It, from the, Somewhat Good Is Okay Volume 1 mixtape got some buzz around the internet. Thank you for your support, know that's appreciated and I encourage you to always keep it YachtLife!

The video above is also a track from the SGIOV1 mixtape.

When I got my Nikon D300's I was excited because it has the option of creating video. Being in the creative-loop, I met a lot of videographers and was always amazed by what they are capable of doing with video. I knew when I ventured off to expose myself as an alternative rap / hip-hop artist I would need music videos for my songs. Currently I'm working on my second mixtape SGIOV2. Last week when I recorded and edited the video above, I was in my last stage of recovery mode from being sick with the flu (I think it was something going around in Florida; I'm better now though). I got a copy of Final Cut Pro, watched a few YouTube videos on how to use the program then gave it a shot and created the visual for Last Night.

I treated the project with the same production process as I offered my photography clients: Pre-production, Production and Post-Production. It's the best way / the easiest way to make your workflow work for you.

I told myself, "Show what the song is talking about." The song is talking about an amazing night that I had. It's simple and to the point; that night was really an amazing one and I wrote a song about it! Simple right.

The result is the video you see above where I mixed video with my photography. Please share it with your friends on your Facebook and while you're at it give my page a like on Facebook and share that as well please! - http://facebook.com/242dt

I'm off to the studio to finish work on Somewhat Good Is Okay Volume 2 now; this road is a long one a head of me but I know where I would like to be, I made my passion my profession and said fuck it make happen. Thank you to the people that will support me and a Ron Jeremy dick fuck you to the people that won't. With all of that said, it's all one love. - D. I'm wishing you an amazing 2012 and I'm hoping yours is off to a good start! There are a few things I'm going to be writing you in this post: The Miami Heat's good start, inspiration for my YachtLife readers and information on my up and coming project / clarification of my status as a professional photographer.

While talking about the new year, goals and all that jazz, it's only right that I give a shout-out to my favorite team from one of the city that I hold it down for, Miami, Florida, The HEAT! The heat is now at 7-1 beating the Hawks last night going into overtime 3x. The lesson from that game - when you want something bad enough, no matter how long it may take, stick at it, fight for it, do your best and if it's for you you'll get it. We had a good year last year and messed it up at the end so I'll just wait patiently until the last buzzer. I feel it stronger this year though!

YachtLife Fam,

Because your passion is your profession your life is a non-stop vacation. Dedication to your portfolio will keep it that way; always be creating. Other than having fun, making amazing nights followed by amazing hungover mornings, ordering room service breakfast, and checking emails by the pool, there are a lot more responsibilities, the major one that I'm speaking about today is your portfolio.

We must face it, the ordinary being will never accept our work for work because unlike them we chose to live our lives creating a path for ourselves different from the paths of the previous generations that tried to be force amongst us. Like that long ass sentence, it's super messed up but who gives a fuck.

All fucks should be given to letting your work speak for itself. The voice will develop when you're portfolio is stronger. In 2012 I want you to go crazy and not care what others think about you. I want you to push yourself to become better at your art while motivating others to do so as well. Work on building a stronger portfolio for you to be proud of.

The word is out now that I paused my title as a professional photographer to continue a career within the music industry; well, that's what should be out. However, the news that I'm hearing is that I've stopped being a professional photographer. I don't know if such thing is possible. If I didn't love it from the start (I did) ten years of shooting and spending time in Photoshop on the daily made me learn to love what I did, the love for it isn't going to fade over night and don't expect the love to ever go. I still get emails from clients and if the projects excite me I'll shoot.

My first mixtape, Somewhat Good Is Okay Volume 1, started to create to a little buzz for me as a musician. I still have a long way to go to get where I want to be. I were able to share that method of building your portfolio because it worked for me as a photographer and I plan to use that blue print for my music.

My second mixtape is written, Kid Smooth and I released one track so far from the mixtape, the introductory track titled S.G.I.O. The Intro, and the mixtape titled SGIOV2 (Somewhat Good Is Okay Volume 2) releases on the first of February.

I'm thankful for making it into 2012, thankful for my team and everyone that's YachtLife.

Until next time!
I give credit when it's deserved. Marco's Pizza, quality and service, as of this date, is the best in the Bahamas.

While out in Bahamas working on content for SGIOV2 (Somewhat Good Is Okay Volume 2 - drops Feb 1st, 2012) I've been ordering a lot of pizza from Marco's Pizza!

I'm sharing this on my blog because I'm really pleased with their service. I'd make a call, get a welcoming greeting, usually from a lady with a nice attitude, flirt around with her for a bit to see if I could get a free pizza (it never worked), a few minutes later the driver calls for directions (I start and never have to finish because they already used to my location.), when the good reaches, the pizza is never cold, the cheese stretches as I pull the slices, I save what I don't finish, get back to writing, then about an hour later eat whatever slices are left.

If you want good pizza and you're in Bahamas I recommend giving them a try.

I weren't paid to write this about them, neither paid to photograph for them. I'm sharing as a fan of their quality because quality never fails to impress me.
Tucker

Pharrell refers to himself as a big kid. Not because he's irresponsible or anything negative towards an adult being called a kid, but, it's because like a kid, his mind is always creative. I began following Pharrell and N.E.R.D.'s music from I were in high-school. They were different, I were different. He make music and was called Skateboard P; I make music and I love to skateboard. It's just the way shit is. I liked his music back then and now because his mindset is cool. The thing I love about the music Pharrell and N.E.R.D. music make is that they pack it with energy, energy that make you feel, energy that make you feel as if you're in the moment and it can also make you remember a moment, smell the colors / see the sounds.

As I grew older and learned a little bit more about life, I began to identify a number of reasons why I idolize Pharrell other than the aforementioned similarities. It is because he seem to always have the sexiest ladies around him! I'm just playing! Real talk though, it's because he honestly believes that he can do anything he wants if he puts his mind to it and I look up to that. That statement goes for both his artistic mindset and business ethics. My understanding to it all is to do whatever you do for a reason and let the main point of that reason be because you love doing what you do.

Quotes by Pharrell Williams:

"Wealth is in the mind and heart, not the pocket."

"I love making music, though. I love playing."

"So when I'm playing, I'm sort of painting a feeling in the air."
Dear Misha,

I'm hoping me writing a letter to you publicly make you a little embarrassed. However, I'm also hoping it make you smile a little. It is super easy for me to send you a text or a lame phone call to tell you I miss you, after not seeing you / talking to you, in what feel like forever; so I decided to show you that I miss you this way.

If I were given the option to choose one lady on earth to be the official spokeswoman for my movement, Young. Ambitious. Creative. High-standard. Talented. Lifestyle. (a.k.a YachtLife), I would choose Misha.

Almost exactly one year ago this photograph of Misha and I was taken. Reflecting from now to then, both of us accomplished so much, and both of us are still in the hustle to accomplishing more.

This year Misha introduced her haute-couture-womenswear brand titled, ByMisha, (www.bymisha.com) to the world. I'm super happy for her! From I met Misha a few years ago, she have been working non-stop to get her designs the way it represent the brand; everything she described to me about her designs in the pre-production stage is on point! It's because of a few key reasons why I have high-belief Misha will be known as one of the worlds best womenswear designer: She's super talented, focused / her work ethic is impeccable and she's one of the nicest ladies you'll ever meet in your life if you meet her.

After photographing R&B singer Deborah Cox in the Summer I paused my titled as a professional photographer to pursue my childhood dream / a career within the music industry and I released my first mixtape (Somewhat Good Is Okay Volume 1) to the world. Earlier in the year I told Misha about what I were going to do, and from then I had her full support.

I've been in and out of Miami while recording volume 1 of the mixtape and as I write this I'm away again, as I write volume 2 of my mixtape. Even though there are twitter, facebook, cell-phones and Skype to keep in touch with your love ones, the downside of our operation is that the personal-reality-social life interaction is lessened.

Misha, even though the weather is perfect out here in the Bahamas for winter and the body of water that I'm looking at look super beautiful with the moon light on it, as I write you this letter, it will never amount to when I hug you and see you smile every time we reconnect; I'm hoping it will be sooner than soon.
It's still about having fun.

The original caption for this photograph was, "D. Tucker with a lady sexier than you'll ever see."

This photograph was made a few weeks ago in Bahamas. Every time I look at it, it remind me of a line from my song "Everything"; the track from Somewhat Good Is Okay Volume 1.

The line goes, "But for now it's somewhat good chilling by the tide under the tree, this model and me..."

Quotes by Curren$y:

"I'm independent fuck your system I get paid without it." -

One of the most important reasons why I respect Curren$y is because of this line right here. He's a hustler and shaped his own path in history; a hard worker. He's also good with using the web so that's something in common with my movement. I didn't know much about Curren$y back when he were with No Limit and Young Money but that changed a couple years ago when I started following his music and his movement. His JETS movement motivated me to make my YACHTLIFE (Young. Ambitious. Creative. High-standard. Talented. Lifestyle.) brand as well; it only made sense to brand my community for the things we believe in; with that said Shout-out if you're a Jet and Shout-out to my YachtLife Fam!

When I first learned about him , he were just this guy by the name of SPITTA and I was like wtf - haha!

Here's the story why: Many people (online) started to read about my name as Dwayne Tucker the photographer, when I was younger, before photography I used to rap and I went by the name -SPITTA-, it was only until up to a few years ago or so that I started going by the name D. Tucker, and Curren$y a.k.a. the Hot SPITTA had a lot to do with it. I weren't about to fuck with the legend's name. I know other people out there have the name as Dwayne and other people probably share your name as well. Curren$y shaped the name the way he wanted to, I respect it therefore I wasn't about to and I weren't about to be sitting down in my interviews battling / bickering about why my name's SPITTA as well.

Besides, now you all know if you didn't know, "It's D. Tucker Motha ______!"

However, the story behind my name as -SPITTA-: When I were a kid my father (before he passed away) used to go by the name SPITA (with one T); I called him that because he sang R&B music a lot. I decided to go by the name SPITTA (with two T's) like the roman II because I were Dwayne Tucker II so it made sense to make my music name SPITTA. I started to focus on my photography career until summer 2011 when I left photography of 10 years to leave my history within the music industry as D. Tucker. I'm more true to my music now than I were then so I'm going by D. Tucker, my name.

More quotes that help Curren$y inspire me,

"This is a scary movie I'm in, but I do it for my folk who genuinely want me to win."

"ODD number, you are not EVEN, on my level" -

This quote for his word play. Amazing.

Above all though, I respect Curren$y / he inspired me because he keep it organic and share the stories throughout his much for the way they are; I haven't met him personally yet but if he's the way his music make him to be, I'll forever respect the G.

Every Thursday at 8:30 p.m. at the Balcony downtown Nassau, Bahamas, a group of talented individuals get together at a spoken-word-poem-reading, open-mic, musician performance called Listen. I learned about Listen earlier in the year when I saw a video of a really good friend of mine / talented singer, Kamilah Gibson's performance at the event on YouTube. Almost a couple months ago now, when I visited the island was my first time visiting Listen. Ever since loosing my Listenginity I've been an nymphomaniac for the show. It made me feel so good knowing it were a group of young Bahamian artist (extremely talented) that put on an amazing show and are dedicated to meeting every Thursday.

Above is a video of a few songs that I preformed from my, Somewhat Good Is Okay Volume 1 mixtape at the Balcony for the show Listen.

Quotes By Jimi Hendrix:

"All I'm gonna do is just go on and do what I feel." -

When I did photography as a professional I abided by those words. I do the same with my music. It's amazing to me when you do what you feel; so I do just that. This is a trait of Hendrix's character that inspired me. Forever.

"All I'm writing is just what I feel, that's all. I just keep it almost naked. And probably the words are so bland." -

Here again it's about doing what you feel. I love to tell stories from what I feel and keep it 'naked' as well (an insider for the people who listened to my music).

"In order to change the world, you have to get your head together first." -

The only way to change the world is to just live your life doing what you believe in. I fail to believe Hendrix knew that he were changing the world, maybe he did, maybe he didn't, I think if he spent as much time thinking about how to change the world rather than living his life he wouldn't have accomplished what he did. However, he did get his head together and did what he loved, no matter the consequences; who knows if what I'm doing for my own music will ever change the world or shape something new, I surly don't know but what I do know is that I'll continue to do what I love.

"Music doesn't lie. If there is something to be changed in this world, then it can only happen through music."

"The story of life is quicker then the blink of an eye, the story of love is hello, goodbye."

"When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace."

"You have to go on and be crazy. Craziness is like heaven."

The last three quotes above are just simply amazing. In the commentary if you want to, tell me how do you interpret those last quotes, I'm curious to see what you think about them. Rest In Peace Jimi Hendrix.

Remember when the days were so simple? If you don't, then enjoy them while they are! You'll still enjoy them but things will start to get super busy / hectic but you'll still somewhat enjoy it because you'll still be doing what you love. I said somewhat because it does bring some bullshit along with everything being a creative as well but it's just the way it is. It feels super strange not being in Photoshop everyday like I've been for the past ten years. I'm enjoying the transformation from professional photographer to professional musician; it's all a creative hustle.

I finished writing SGIVO2, my second mixtape (the first one is here for free download), so I had some free time on my hand and I decided to play around in Photoshop a little. This isn't an award wining piece or a piece to impress you; I were just chilling, listening to SGIVO1 and browsing Tumblr. If I heard a line in the song I searched Tumblr and the very first image I felt worked with the line I threw into my music collage. My goal was to press play from the start of the mixtape and make this collage in one shot without rewinding the music at all.

It was a fun little project that I wanted to share with you.

I stumbled upon a blog entry she posted titled, For Everyone, which included a disturbing comment Drake made about Tumblr,

“I’m really scared for my generation, you know. The thing that scares me most is Tumblr. I hate what Tumblr has become. Because it like, it reminds me of those clique-y girls in high school that used to make fun of everyone else and define what was cool, but in five years, when you all graduate, that shit doesn’t matter. No one gives a fuck about that shit. Instead of kids going out and making their own moments, they’re just taking these images and living vicariously through other people’s moments. It just kills me. Then you’ll meet them and they’re just the biggest turkey in the world. They don’t actually embody any of those things. They just emulate. It’s scary man, simulation life that we’re living. It scares me.”

- Drake

I left a comment shortly after reading.

"I'm NOT sorry but I somewhat disagree with Drake on this one. I'm a visual person, I like to be inspired by great images, I'm inspired by beautiful women, and I love to see awesome skateboarding photographs. Those are some of the things I reblog on Tumblr. The only part I agree with Drake on is "what it has become". That doesn't mean that he should (if he even has one) change the way he uses his Tumblr; if he doesn't have one, perhaps he should use it the way he think is the right way to use it. Hopefully, doing so will inspire others to do the same."

- D. Tucker

I decided to share that on my blog with a positive response extension from Drakes, "Instead of kids going out and making their own moments..."

Before I go any further, to those whom are coming here for the first time I were a photographer for the last ten years but I paused my title as a professional photographer to continue a career within the music industry. As a photographer then and now, I look at images to inspire me, good photographs. So I guess I looked at them with a purpose to see somethings that would work I photographed the way I do and things that didn't work / to say, "Oh if I tried this way it would be like this if I did it." then I'll get up get out and do it.

So Drake, I do agree with you on that part about kids not going out and making their own moments, that's when it become a problem.

Follow My Tumblr

I think kids should use Tumblr to make a collection of the things they like and find people of similar interest, message those people, talk to those people and most important use Tumblr as an inspirational community. Not one where you end up being like the, clique-y girls in high school that used to make fun of everyone else and define what was cool..." I post about beautiful women because beautiful women inspire me to do everything that I do better (that's just the way it is), I blog about skateboarding because I've been skate boarding from I were nine years old and it's a part of my lifestyle, the rest of the things are meaningful as well some for personal reasons and some for others / I may find a quote that will inspire an entire photo shoot or bring back a personal memory that will inspire an entire song.

The Good Life Miami a.k.a TGLMIA is a clothing line based in Miami, Florida. I was asked to photograph the brand a few months ago and the images would be used around the web / their facebook and for the brand's new look book. I took up the offer because of a few reasons: I heard a lot good news from friends about this up rising brand in Miami before hand and the guys who run the brand and their team are a gentlemen / businessmen / young hustlers like myself. It was awesome working with them and you already know, "We Had Fun!" cause that's what we do, "We Have Fun!" :)

Awesome results are the outcome when you work along with like minded people. It's something I did when I took on photo shoots like these and it's still something I do when I work with people now in the music industry. It's all about networking, but networking with the right people that share the same vision.

I hope you enjoy the photographs and I hope they inspire you to go out have some fun and make some images. I also want you to take a stop to their website: TGLMIA.com and check out some of their clothing (P.S. I just got word that they have some raw new snap-backs so yall look out for them and I already told my photographer he'll be making some portraits of me with the snap-backs when I get a hold of them!)

Until next Playaz!

The flyer you read above was sent to me from Miami, Florida's photographer Ace Noguera; Ace also shared the flyer with a bunch of other photographers. The way Ace and I met should be major inspiration for any photographer that struggles with networking - you should NEVER be shy to talk about what you do - be random! Ace and I met a few years ago at a skate shop in Miami, Florida. I was looking for a new skateboard and he walked in with an amazing tattooed sleeve; I got my first set of ink not too long ago so every tattoo I saw at the time amazed me. Other than tattoos, skateboards and great taste in women, Ace and I had another thing in common, photography. He was an up and coming photographer at the time. We exchanged contacts and I shared advice that got me to that point in my photography career; he spoke with passion about his photography and that was enough for me to help. I'm happy to see him sharing his own advice / motivation materiel to other photographers. Remember we're all artist and we should inspire others / encourage others to hustle hard / photo hustle hard! Hopefully you'll pass this flyer on to a few friends of your own.

Now on to the second part and the point of this blog title!

Preparation Is Luck's Soulmate

When you become lucky and you're prepared, great things happen. The only way to be prepared for luck is to keep on trying to become better at what you do and like the flyer said: DO A LOT OF WORK.

I was asked to photograph RnB singer Deborah Cox for Vain Style Magazine; that photo shoot was also the last one before I paused my title as a professional photographer. A few years prior, I met a model / stylist from on of my photo shoot sessions, did some photographs for her to use in her portfolio and she was the stylist for the Deborah's photo shoot. I share that because both of us "Fought our way through" to get to the point where we were in our careers so it was super exciting to work with her on that project.

Okay don't bitch at me for running off topic again just now, I got super excited to talk about that and you should be excited reading this inspiration information I'm sharing with you anyway and if you're not....then....anyway I'm going to continue :) (I love you all haha)

The photographs that you see in this post were from my visit to UM's radio station to premiere my Love It Hate It single and two other songs from my, Somewhat Good Is Okay Volume 1 mixtape. Kid Smooth, my DJ / Engineer for / of SGIOV, and I were ready for the lucky opportunity at UM because we've been putting in a ton of work recording and creating songs of quality content to share.

I write all of this to share, no matter what your art may be: painting, photographing, creating music, designing clothing - be ready / prepare yourself because lucks preparation's soul mate therefore they'll find each other when everything is ready. Have faith in your work / be true to your work and your work will be true to you.

(Bahamian Artist Sammi Starr and myself)

Hello to the first timers, if you're new here, and to everybody welcome. For the virgins of my blog my name is Dwayne Tucker I've been advancing in photography for the past ten years. Summer 2011, I paused my career as a professional photographer to pursue a career in music. I've been rapping for as long as I've been photographing but any artist knows that it takes putting your everything into the art of your choice to become great at it. A little history of my photography back ground so I can speed you up for you to understand why I'm doing what I'm doing here / why I feel as if it's my duty to keep my ties to the photography community.

When I were a kid I stayed up countless hours on the internet looking for great photography blogs and like you probably do if you're a digital photographer, looking for ways to become better in Photoshop. That's when I came across an important name that will change my life for ever, Scott Kelby. I stumbled on Photoshop User Tv, a online tv show / podcast for catching rabbits in the meadows - (I'm just playing!) It was for photo shop. I took to the show for a number of reasons, they were being themselves, they as in Scott and the co-host Matt and Dave at the time; they were having fun at all times on the show and sharing some beneficial information. From the show I found out that Scott had a blog, from I then started to read his blog, every time he posted.

In high-school on weekends I worked at a store in the Bahamas that sold GE appliances. It was a family operated business and the owners of the store and the staff got along like family, it was just the way things were in the store; amazing. I say amazing because of one thing unlike any other similar work environment in the Bahamas allowed you to be you, once you did the work. The store opened up about 7:30 a.m., stated busy until about 9:30 a.m. then picked up speed around 11:20 a.m. Durning the hours that weren't busy I'd use my computer to kill some time, but I'd be reading blogs that I booked marked that shared information about the photography community. It was then I told myself that everyday I'd go to Scott Kelby's website and make sure he knew I was where. I commented and left my signature as Dwayne Tucker | Nassau, Bahamas. I got an email from Scott about two weeks of doing that, everyday, and he said he and his staff would be going to the Bahamas for business and he wanted to know if I'd spend the day to with them to shoot. In my mind it was like fuck yeah I'm I really reading this email! Scott to me is an idol in the photography game and he is like Jay-z / Kanye West / Pharrell / Cisco Adler / Shwayze is to me for music I'd be more than excited to hit the studio up with them to record; you get the picture, I was super excited canceled all plans and took the opportunity.

In high-school a friend of mine and I played golf on the weekends, he were really passionate about golf. Years later I'm still friends with the kid, he saw that I'm making moves with my photography and shared with me that his little brother is also into the same thing. That was about three or four years ago. I take mental note of everything therefore I started to watch his brother and see if he truly wants to be a photographer. On facebook I saw that he got a Nikon, I shoot with Nikon. Scott Kelby shot with Nikon so I started shooting with Nikon and stuck with it after using a Canon and fell in love with Nikon's shutter sound. If you shoot Nikon you'll know what I'm talking about.

Fast forward a ton of observations, my friends brother and I started skateboarding together because the skateboarding community isn't as large in the Bahamas so all of the skaters know each other. I then spoke to him about photography told him that I'm moving into my dream to become a famous musician and offered try to teach him what I know about photography. I also told him that the major lesson in photography is observation and personality - if you're under 20 years old in 2011 then just call the shit observation and swag so you'd get the picture.

The photographs that I posted here is a collaboration with photographer Edward Kemp and I; you'll notices my editing style and on about one or three of them my composition style because I edited the photographs. I want you guys to welcome Edward to the world of photography here in my We Have Fun community because he's the chosen photographer by me that I'll grow to make him the photographer that he'll become and I want him to become good enough so I can make him one of my private photographers when I make it to that level of touring my music etc. (Don't bitch at me for not taking a breath just now that sentence was the most longest sentence!)

I'll close on that note with a, continue to have fun with your work, live it up and a YachtLife that's all playa! - D. Tucker (YachtLife is my movement for my music it stands for Young. Ambitious. Creative. High-standards. Talented. Lifestyle.)
Dwayne Tuckerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18282040697183532423noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5995507723973933161.post-7948857229883770292011-10-10T19:33:00.000-04:002011-10-10T19:33:16.165-04:00Question For Your AnswersOkay I'm backkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!

Before I go on my rant mainly for the first timers here, my question to you is? What would you like learn from me? I'm here to inspire / re-inspire photographers around the world to hustle with photography! So in the questions or by email or anyway of contacting me, hit me up and tell me what is it you'd like to learn. I'm thinking I'll be able to help from what worked for me / if I don't know then I'll find out and we'll learn together...(yaaayyyyy!!! - JK!)
Also feel free to write me here at anytime just speak yo mind pimpin!

Okay for those stopping here for the first time welcome; to you none virgins of my content, welcome back! I'm shaking the sand out of my Sperrys.

For the first time comers, many call me Dwayne Tucker (because that's my name), some call me DT. because that's what people in the photography industry called me and some call me D. Tucker because that's what I'm known for in the music industry / (I'm trying to blow up with my music yo! Download my mixtape for free here: Somewhat Good Is Okay Volume 1). I'm a professional photographer, I've been photographing for 10 years....but honestly that don't really mean shit and you'll soon learn to know that. It's all about where you at right now in the game. Remember that. Also understand that it take time to become good at anything, and even more time to become great at it! :)

I'm back here on the blog for a number a reasons. I'm not about to give you no 1. 2. 3. 4. reasons list count so you can pull them out on your own and just know that they are a number of reasons okay. Not many are going to like the way I write, that's unfortunate. If you don't like the way I write then go to a dictionary and have fun there. My content is for the people who don't read too much and find that reading my shit is easy because I speak from the heart and not from the / for the / whatever you want to call it / likeness of people to be like, "Oh that Dwayne is so educated with his words blah blah blah..." Not saying that you want to try me in that area either. In fact I do love words. My most favorite thing to read is 1000 words or more at once; they say a photo is worth 1000 words right? Okay, I hope you're vegitairian cause that there were some real corny shit haha!

Not to state the obvious there aren't many professional photographers that are rappers as well; or any good rappers I'd say (yes I was riding my own magic lamp-pole just now)! But what's important for me doing this, I've been in Miami, Florida the last 3 years and flying back home to my country (Bahamas) and I've notice that I inspired kids not only in Bahamas but in Miami as well to become photographers / artist; many still asked me questions and I respect that because that's how I learnt asking a ton of questions. But, it does get pilled up sometime so I figured if I can answer questions that you ask then if someone asks the same thing I'll be able to point them to what I wrote.

I'm noticing now and you'll notice that I run on a lot and I'm going to try to stick to the point this time but I get mad excited in my mind when I'm writing for you to read this (But can you really blame me? If you do...honestly.....shut the fuck up!)

In another blog post I'll title it Professional Photographer and Rapper and share some interesting information in there for you; from there on I'll be blogging as whenever time permits you can keep checking back daily or whenever but to be honest the best way to keep up is to just follow the blog and get an email from me when I post. Be easy. Remember to have fun! - D. Tucker | Y∆ch†£¡ƒe!
I was able to recognize because I clearly remember Scott Kelby sharing the same advice to me - he said to have patience, keep doing what I do, but, I'd either need one lucky break or a series of lucky breaks, it's not like Tennis when the best play is recognized and chosen.

It's so true put it's pissing me off still that it works like that.

I then sang Lupe Fiasco's song in my head, "If you are what you say you are, a super star, then have no fear, the crowd is here...."

For those who are here for the first time, I'm Dwayne Tucker and I'm a past photographer of ten years; I'm one of those lucky un-lucky fellas with more than one passion and talented in a few areas -- (Jack of all trades!)

A few months ago I decided that I would like to follow my dream to make music....the decision was made because I can express myself more with my voice than I will ever be able to (and survive at the same time) with a camera in my hand.

Thank God for the background of photography because I'm able approach people within a new industry professionally, that I learnt from photography and music is an art so some of the same formats are similar, not a like but similar, for the planning process of everything etc. So yeah it's still a beautiful bitch!

When I stopped photography I had a little buzz creating for my name after years of practicing; what I learnt from photography was what practicing truly meant; I guess it would be best to say I learnt the art of practicing.

Now that I'm in music I'll be trying to apply some of what I learnt and waiting for my lucky break/ series of lucky breaks while creating more content and fighting to create better music. I encourage you to do the same, build a better portfolio, still fight hard as fuck to get your name out, it will be mind draining, you'll feel as if you need more respect but keep on fighting, then fight harder and never give up! Remember to do what???? Remember to keep having fun bitches!!!

My photography fan (I hope you're fans of my music as well)! How are you doing?
I edited this photograph of myself not to long ago to send out as a press photograph for my music.

I'm pretty pleased with my attitude towards being in the photography industry because I treated this photograph no different than how I would have edited a photograph of my clients; I gave it my all!

The only thing that differs my clients product to mine is that they had me take the photograph for them, this one I asked Smooth to take a snap shot before our show last night (the photography shown below is the original).

We were in the hall way and I told my DJ/ Engineer to stand in the front of me I adjusted the light for my SB-900 strobe and threw F 5 - 1/125s on my 14-24 mm F 2.8 lens out at 15 mm with ISO 500, witched places with him the there came that photograph (Dwanye wipes sweat off face and does a long inhale exhale before return to this letter. :) )

The above wasn't a must, however, learning the your settings of your camera is a must. Doing so you'll be able to shoot as quick as we needed this shot before walking on to stage!

Now what has been going on?

I'm going to squeeze a little more into this letter to you about editing my poor man's photo shoot's portrait . I finished my music video shot by Ernesto Prieto and Julian Malagon (a.k.a. Jude) and released it last week on my YouTube channel - DT TV: http://youtube.com/242 but here's the video embedded below:

I haven't release the cover of my mixtape was done by an artist friend of mine in Miami GGArtwork.com:
There's a ton of work involved after creating the the music, that in itself is a ton of work. right now I'm a the stage where I feel like I've been proposed by a client to market and artist using my skills but I'm paying for the client's budget. I wouldn't want to mess up my clients project with the money therefore I'm treating my Somewhat Good Is Okay Mixtape Vol1. project with the same respect as I treat my clients.

It's still an exciting skills and believe it or not everything that I've learnt from the photography industry still applies, as far as dead lines, proposals, team work, communication etc. I'm not going to tell a lie, me being aware of how saturated the music industry is scares the shit out of me in a way that frights my patients, however I feel as if I'm here to offer the industry quality work and leave my mark / history within the music industry.

Lastly, the most exciting thing of my day yesterday was seeing my mixtape with that little red stripe saying sponsored on DatPiff.com now anyone can stream / download my mixtape for free without be forced to sign up for an DP account if you don't want one.
I hope everyone is doing good here on We Have Fun, once again I'm saying that I haven't forgotten about you guys, you all are amazing to me and very special. As you know how I'm venturing deeper into the music industry, this time not photographing but putting music of my own out there for you to enjoy.

I originally started this blog to share tips of hustling with photography and I'll still provide tips here and there when I can.

Being a photographer is in my blood, so is music, but just because I've been focusing on my music doesn't mean that my photographer is all done.

I took my camera out the other day and noticed that I'm truly a geek! lol

Anyways, thank you all for being a part of my moments etc.
The photograph above was last week at a radio show here in Miami. That's my DJ Kid Smooth on right with me at the radio station in Miami, Florida. We had fun and an amazing time at the radio station. They played three of my songs. Love It, Hate It; The Beginning and Long Dreaming. After the songs played I closed with a the traditional freestyle to close the show. Great times!

More updates are comings soon..keep checking my blog and thanks for tuning in!

I haven't completely neglected the blog. I appreciate the 45 followers I have here and to the other people that stumbles upon my blog and show me love either my email or via comments!

I've mentioned a few times via the fan page and my Twitter that I will be focusing on my music. Two days ago I did my last Photoshoot (what I think will be my last) with musician Deborah Cox and it was awesome; once again everyone on set had fun because it's what we do, "We Have Fun".

When shooting a celebrity my advice to you is to not try anything random or new on set, stick to what you're used to doing and everything will work out well.

**On To The Music**
The transition from being behind the camera to being in front of the camera is a little different. Hopefully I'll be able to focus on photo shoots of my own and not waste the entire shoot chatting with the photographers. :)

Above are press photos for my new mixtape that drops next Friday, "Somewhat Good Is Okay." and the cover for my single, "Love It, Hate It".

If you want to write about my music and share it with your friends I'd appreciate it feel free to use the images above on your blogs to share good thoughts about my music.

Chances are you started taking photographs of your friends at school like I did; then you fell in love with photography. You got a copy of Photoshop from a friend or waited two days until the free trail downloaded over the slow ass internet out there; nevertheless, you were finally able to see what it was; Photoshop. You stayed up many nights on Youtube and Google looking for tutorials to better your skills and become a master in the program. You started to read blogs and you met friends with in the industry. You borrowed lens, cameras, strobes, perhaps even a few memory cards, all in the name of making a beautiful image to share with your friends.

You're in love with photography now. You decided that it's everything you want. Now it's time to make a living from it...

This series of parts for this post is going to share more inspiration for you, towards networking/photohustling/keeping strong mindset within the conditions you'll face being a photographer in the Bahamas.

Fall 2006 I packed up everything and moved to Savannah, GA to Savannah College of Art and Design for advertising design. It was my first school of choice from 11th grade and I was super excited being accepted and being grated a visa to leave the country for my studies.

September I flew away to a place much bigger than the 21x7 (mile) island we're from with nothing but hope, dreams to accomplish and new people to meet. I was ready for it.

More to come................

Everything is accomplished by a mindset. Take care of 'everything' that you have, because if you don't everything will slowly become 'nothing'.

Everything is an idea, the idea becomes real when you accept today and believe that: Everything is in your mind and everything is accomplished by your mindset.

As I write this I'm sitting in the exact chair I used to sit in (about ten years ago) while I searched "how to videos" on Youtube for Photoshop, browsed images and took mental snapshots of the ones I loved.

Ten years ago as I sat in this chair, I was real as I were ever going to be; at that moment. Ten years (today) I'm as real as I will ever be; at this moment.

Where I'm going with this is that, today is not different than yesterday. Ten years ago when I sat in this chair I wanted to become a better photographer, I wanted to learn more things in Photoshop, I wanted to make more money from my talents...I did all of those; I believed and still believe that everything was in my mind and everything can be accomplished by my mindset.

Ten years later I hope to look back at this and still smile at the hustle. I do expect to go further. Who knows how far I'll go, I don't...all I can do is be patient and continue to hustle.

I'm getting tired writing this it's pissing me off thinking about everything....I just want to let you know that everything that you take from yesterday and bring into today is all that you have...take care of what you have today, take it into tomorrow and enjoy your life :)

P.S. Today's no different than yesterday, tomorrow won't be different than today, the only thing that's different is the development of the idea that you have for how you want to live your life. There are no sequels.
