Guide To Fun And Better Living
I recently did a track over Jay-z and Kanye West's track titled, New Day. As I grow with my music you'll hear about the good things in my life because the good times are to be shared and people are inspired by good things...
They say all you can do is take a horse to the water but can't make the horse drink it. It's not regular that I do tracks like this one...I prefer not to because writing a verse like the one shared make me upset while writing / discussing them for personal reasons, but, it's hard not to do the tracks because the messages are to be shared with those and put out for those who need to hear it. If you want to inspire someone that needs this track share it with them and hope justice get done.
When I was a full time professional photographer, I studied new ways to express what I want the views to feel. Now that I'm a full time alternative rap / hip-hop musician I'm using the same method of, always learning, being creative and striving to be better. The striving to be better part is not only for my arts it's also as a person. Figuring out, by living and doing, failing, failing and strategizing from my mistakes in order to become a wiser person / for me to understand me a lot more and what I'm capable of doing. They say, you can choose who you want to become by going after what you want to become. The trick to it is not to look, but to use what you have and grow...okay let's jump off of my small emotional violin talk and move the fuck on yeah?
From here on I'll share the lyrics withe the track for you to read then below you can play the song from the embedded YouTube link at the bottom of the post; press play and enjoy.
Jay-z feat Kanye West - New Day (D. Tucker) Lyrics:
This is a black tie event I call it luxury rap,
I'm so tired and sick,
sick and tired of the crap,
sick and tired of the shit,
yeah that's it,
no filtering, like bad joints,
I hope the message in these lyrics
gets your joints moving,
get your head nodding,
get your head bobbing,
until it falls off,
put a new one on it,
put your middle fingers up and say fuck your old life if you're not living right,
and don't give me that bull shit but I'm just on my hood shit.
It's time to put the hood where the trunks at,
I'm talking porsches,
I'm talking posh,
I'm talking porches,
with the ocean in your view with your girl in the room with her feet up watching Whoopie on the view and yeah the world will honor you, but it's on to you,
to make it better for yourself, to build your wealth, I heard Pharrell once said in an interview, that wealth's in your mind and your heart, not in your pocket,
do something,
be something,
create something,
show the whole fucking world that you are something,
fathers, it's now time to be fathers to your sons,
mothers, be mothers to your daughters,
and I don't have a kid yet but I'm looking from the outside in,
I know this is some shit,
that some would say that this' some shit without no assumption,
and that there be some dumb shit,
that some would say that this' some shit without no assumption,
let me ask yall something,
Tu Familia" aint familiar?
When was the last time,
Tu Abuelo,
Tu Abuela,
Tu Mama,
Tu Papa,
Tu Tio,
Tu Tia,
Tu Hermana,
Tu Hermano,
Sat down and ate supper mother fuckers?

A New Venture Under My Belt
To Download The Song And Read The Lyrics for Last Night, Click Here.
With the help of Refine Grind, YachtLife fans / the people that believe in me and my statement, ethics and excellence for achievements, as of today (February 2nd, 2012), my first music video, for the track, Love It Hate It, from the, Somewhat Good Is Okay Volume 1 mixtape got some buzz around the internet. Thank you for your support, know that's appreciated and I encourage you to always keep it YachtLife!
The video above is also a track from the SGIOV1 mixtape.
When I got my Nikon D300's I was excited because it has the option of creating video. Being in the creative-loop, I met a lot of videographers and was always amazed by what they are capable of doing with video. I knew when I ventured off to expose myself as an alternative rap / hip-hop artist I would need music videos for my songs. Currently I'm working on my second mixtape SGIOV2. Last week when I recorded and edited the video above, I was in my last stage of recovery mode from being sick with the flu (I think it was something going around in Florida; I'm better now though). I got a copy of Final Cut Pro, watched a few YouTube videos on how to use the program then gave it a shot and created the visual for Last Night.
I treated the project with the same production process as I offered my photography clients: Pre-production, Production and Post-Production. It's the best way / the easiest way to make your workflow work for you.
I told myself, "Show what the song is talking about." The song is talking about an amazing night that I had. It's simple and to the point; that night was really an amazing one and I wrote a song about it! Simple right.
The result is the video you see above where I mixed video with my photography. Please share it with your friends on your Facebook and while you're at it give my page a like on Facebook and share that as well please! - http://facebook.com/242dt
I'm off to the studio to finish work on Somewhat Good Is Okay Volume 2 now; this road is a long one a head of me but I know where I would like to be, I made my passion my profession and said fuck it make happen. Thank you to the people that will support me and a Ron Jeremy dick fuck you to the people that won't. With all of that said, it's all one love. - D. Tucker #YachtLife That's All Playa!
Your Portfolio Is Your Larynx
I'm wishing you an amazing 2012 and I'm hoping yours is off to a good start! There are a few things I'm going to be writing you in this post: The Miami Heat's good start, inspiration for my YachtLife readers and information on my up and coming project / clarification of my status as a professional photographer.
While talking about the new year, goals and all that jazz, it's only right that I give a shout-out to my favorite team from one of the city that I hold it down for, Miami, Florida, The HEAT! The heat is now at 7-1 beating the Hawks last night going into overtime 3x. The lesson from that game - when you want something bad enough, no matter how long it may take, stick at it, fight for it, do your best and if it's for you you'll get it. We had a good year last year and messed it up at the end so I'll just wait patiently until the last buzzer. I feel it stronger this year though!
YachtLife Fam,
Because your passion is your profession your life is a non-stop vacation. Dedication to your portfolio will keep it that way; always be creating. Other than having fun, making amazing nights followed by amazing hungover mornings, ordering room service breakfast, and checking emails by the pool, there are a lot more responsibilities, the major one that I'm speaking about today is your portfolio.
We must face it, the ordinary being will never accept our work for work because unlike them we chose to live our lives creating a path for ourselves different from the paths of the previous generations that tried to be force amongst us. Like that long ass sentence, it's super messed up but who gives a fuck.
All fucks should be given to letting your work speak for itself. The voice will develop when you're portfolio is stronger. In 2012 I want you to go crazy and not care what others think about you. I want you to push yourself to become better at your art while motivating others to do so as well. Work on building a stronger portfolio for you to be proud of.
The word is out now that I paused my title as a professional photographer to continue a career within the music industry; well, that's what should be out. However, the news that I'm hearing is that I've stopped being a professional photographer. I don't know if such thing is possible. If I didn't love it from the start (I did) ten years of shooting and spending time in Photoshop on the daily made me learn to love what I did, the love for it isn't going to fade over night and don't expect the love to ever go. I still get emails from clients and if the projects excite me I'll shoot.
My first mixtape, Somewhat Good Is Okay Volume 1, started to create to a little buzz for me as a musician. I still have a long way to go to get where I want to be. I were able to share that method of building your portfolio because it worked for me as a photographer and I plan to use that blue print for my music.
My second mixtape is written, Kid Smooth and I released one track so far from the mixtape, the introductory track titled S.G.I.O. The Intro, and the mixtape titled SGIOV2 (Somewhat Good Is Okay Volume 2) releases on the first of February.
I'm thankful for making it into 2012, thankful for my team and everyone that's YachtLife.
Until next time!

Marco's Pizza Bahamas
I give credit when it's deserved. Marco's Pizza, quality and service, as of this date, is the best in the Bahamas.
While out in Bahamas working on content for SGIOV2 (Somewhat Good Is Okay Volume 2 - drops Feb 1st, 2012) I've been ordering a lot of pizza from Marco's Pizza!
I'm sharing this on my blog because I'm really pleased with their service. I'd make a call, get a welcoming greeting, usually from a lady with a nice attitude, flirt around with her for a bit to see if I could get a free pizza (it never worked), a few minutes later the driver calls for directions (I start and never have to finish because they already used to my location.), when the good reaches, the pizza is never cold, the cheese stretches as I pull the slices, I save what I don't finish, get back to writing, then about an hour later eat whatever slices are left.
If you want good pizza and you're in Bahamas I recommend giving them a try.
I weren't paid to write this about them, neither paid to photograph for them. I'm sharing as a fan of their quality because quality never fails to impress me.

Pharrell Williams' Inspiration To D. Tucker
Pharrell refers to himself as a big kid. Not because he's irresponsible or anything negative towards an adult being called a kid, but, it's because like a kid, his mind is always creative. I began following Pharrell and N.E.R.D.'s music from I were in high-school. They were different, I were different. He make music and was called Skateboard P; I make music and I love to skateboard. It's just the way shit is. I liked his music back then and now because his mindset is cool. The thing I love about the music Pharrell and N.E.R.D. music make is that they pack it with energy, energy that make you feel, energy that make you feel as if you're in the moment and it can also make you remember a moment, smell the colors / see the sounds.
As I grew older and learned a little bit more about life, I began to identify a number of reasons why I idolize Pharrell other than the aforementioned similarities. It is because he seem to always have the sexiest ladies around him! I'm just playing! Real talk though, it's because he honestly believes that he can do anything he wants if he puts his mind to it and I look up to that. That statement goes for both his artistic mindset and business ethics. My understanding to it all is to do whatever you do for a reason and let the main point of that reason be because you love doing what you do.
Quotes by Pharrell Williams:
"Wealth is in the mind and heart, not the pocket."
"I love making music, though. I love playing."
"So when I'm playing, I'm sort of painting a feeling in the air."
