Curren$y's Inspiration

Quotes by Curren$y:

"I'm independent fuck your system I get paid without it." -

One of the most important reasons why I respect Curren$y is because of this line right here. He's a hustler and shaped his own path in history; a hard worker. He's also good with using the web so that's something in common with my movement. I didn't know much about Curren$y back when he were with No Limit and Young Money but that changed a couple years ago when I started following his music and his movement. His JETS movement motivated me to make my YACHTLIFE (Young. Ambitious. Creative. High-standard. Talented. Lifestyle.) brand as well; it only made sense to brand my community for the things we believe in; with that said Shout-out if you're a Jet and Shout-out to my YachtLife Fam!

When I first learned about him , he were just this guy by the name of SPITTA and I was like wtf - haha!

Here's the story why: Many people (online) started to read about my name as Dwayne Tucker the photographer, when I was younger, before photography I used to rap and I went by the name -SPITTA-, it was only until up to a few years ago or so that I started going by the name D. Tucker, and Curren$y a.k.a. the Hot SPITTA had a lot to do with it. I weren't about to fuck with the legend's name. I know other people out there have the name as Dwayne and other people probably share your name as well. Curren$y shaped the name the way he wanted to, I respect it therefore I wasn't about to and I weren't about to be sitting down in my interviews battling / bickering about why my name's SPITTA as well.

Besides, now you all know if you didn't know, "It's D. Tucker Motha ______!"

However, the story behind my name as -SPITTA-: When I were a kid my father (before he passed away) used to go by the name SPITA (with one T); I called him that because he sang R&B music a lot. I decided to go by the name SPITTA (with two T's) like the roman II because I were Dwayne Tucker II so it made sense to make my music name SPITTA. I started to focus on my photography career until summer 2011 when I left photography of 10 years to leave my history within the music industry as D. Tucker. I'm more true to my music now than I were then so I'm going by D. Tucker, my name.

More quotes that help Curren$y inspire me,

"This is a scary movie I'm in, but I do it for my folk who genuinely want me to win."

"ODD number, you are not EVEN, on my level" -

This quote for his word play. Amazing.

Above all though, I respect Curren$y / he inspired me because he keep it organic and share the stories throughout his much for the way they are; I haven't met him personally yet but if he's the way his music make him to be, I'll forever respect the G.

Summer 2011 I decided to pause my photography as a profession to continue / pursue my childhood dream / make a name for myself as a musician to share my music the world inspiring others to do what they want, when it feels right, if they love it.

D. Tucker's Performance At Listen - In Bahamas.

Every Thursday at 8:30 p.m. at the Balcony downtown Nassau, Bahamas, a group of talented individuals get together at a spoken-word-poem-reading, open-mic, musician performance called Listen. I learned about Listen earlier in the year when I saw a video of a really good friend of mine / talented singer, Kamilah Gibson's performance at the event on YouTube. Almost a couple months ago now, when I visited the island was my first time visiting Listen. Ever since loosing my Listenginity I've been an nymphomaniac for the show. It made me feel so good knowing it were a group of young Bahamian artist (extremely talented) that put on an amazing show and are dedicated to meeting every Thursday.

Above is a video of a few songs that I preformed from my, Somewhat Good Is Okay Volume 1 mixtape at the Balcony for the show Listen.

Jimi Hendrix's Inspiration

Quotes By Jimi Hendrix:

"All I'm gonna do is just go on and do what I feel." -

When I did photography as a professional I abided by those words. I do the same with my music. It's amazing to  me when you do what you feel; so I do just that. This is a trait of Hendrix's character that inspired me. Forever.

"All I'm writing is just what I feel, that's all. I just keep it almost naked. And probably the words are so bland." -

Here again it's about doing what you feel. I love to tell stories from what I feel and keep it 'naked' as well (an insider for the people who listened to my music).

"In order to change the world, you have to get your head together first." -

The only way to change the world is to just live your life doing what you believe in. I fail to believe Hendrix knew that he were changing the world, maybe he did, maybe he didn't, I think if he spent as much time thinking about how to change the world rather than living his life he wouldn't have accomplished what he did. However, he did get his head together and did what he loved, no matter the consequences; who knows if what I'm doing for my own music will ever change the world or shape something new, I surly don't know but what I do know is that I'll continue to do what I love.

"Music doesn't lie. If there is something to be changed in this world, then it can only happen through music."

"The story of life is quicker then the blink of an eye, the story of love is hello, goodbye."

"When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace."

"You have to go on and be crazy. Craziness is like heaven."

The last three quotes above are just simply amazing. In the commentary if you want to, tell me how do you interpret those last quotes, I'm curious to see what you think about them. Rest In Peace Jimi Hendrix.

Music Collage In Photoshop

Remember when the days were so simple? If you don't, then enjoy them while they are! You'll still enjoy them but things will start to get super busy / hectic but you'll still somewhat enjoy it because you'll still be doing what you love. I said somewhat because it does bring some bullshit along with everything being a creative as well but it's just the way it is. It feels super strange not being in Photoshop everyday like I've been for the past ten years. I'm enjoying the transformation from professional photographer to professional musician; it's all a creative hustle.

I finished writing SGIVO2, my second mixtape (the first one is here for free download), so I had some free time on my hand and I decided to play around in Photoshop a little. This isn't an award wining piece or a piece to impress you; I were just chilling, listening to SGIVO1 and browsing Tumblr. If I heard a line in the song I searched Tumblr and the very first image I felt worked with the line I threw into my music collage. My goal was to press play from the start of the mixtape and make this collage in one shot without rewinding the music at all.

It was a fun little project that I wanted to share with you.

Drake's Comment

A really good friend of mine is one of the authors of the blog, Life Is Too Precious - So Destroy It.

I stumbled upon a blog entry she posted titled, For Everyone, which included a disturbing comment Drake made about Tumblr,

“I’m really scared for my generation, you know. The thing that scares me most is Tumblr. I hate what Tumblr has become. Because it like, it reminds me of those clique-y girls in high school that used to make fun of everyone else and define what was cool, but in five years, when you all graduate, that shit doesn’t matter. No one gives a fuck about that shit. Instead of kids going out and making their own moments, they’re just taking these images and living vicariously through other people’s moments. It just kills me. Then you’ll meet them and they’re just the biggest turkey in the world. They don’t actually embody any of those things. They just emulate. It’s scary man, simulation life that we’re living. It scares me.”

 - Drake

I left a comment shortly after reading.

"I'm NOT sorry but I somewhat disagree with Drake on this one. I'm a visual person, I like to be inspired by great images, I'm inspired by beautiful women, and I love to see awesome skateboarding photographs. Those are some of the things I reblog on Tumblr. The only part I agree with Drake on is "what it has become". That doesn't mean that he should (if he even has one) change the way he uses his Tumblr; if he doesn't have one, perhaps he should use it the way he think is the right way to use it. Hopefully, doing so will inspire others to do the same."

- D. Tucker

I decided to share that on my blog with a positive response extension from Drakes, "Instead of kids going out and making their own moments..."

Before I go any further, to those whom are coming here for the first time I were a photographer for the last ten years but I paused my title as a professional photographer to continue a career within the music industry. As a photographer then and now, I look at images to inspire me, good photographs. So I guess I looked at them with a purpose to see somethings that would work I photographed the way I do and things that didn't work / to say, "Oh if I tried this way it would be like this if I did it." then I'll get up get out and do it.

So Drake, I do agree with you on that part about kids not going out and making their own moments, that's when it become a problem.

Follow My Tumblr

I think kids should use Tumblr to make a collection of the things they like and find people of similar interest, message those people, talk to those people and most important use Tumblr as an inspirational community. Not one where you end up being like the, clique-y girls in high school that used to make fun of everyone else and define what was cool..." I post about beautiful women because beautiful women inspire me to do everything that I do better (that's just the way it is),  I blog about skateboarding because I've been skate boarding from I were nine years old and it's a part of my lifestyle, the rest of the things are meaningful as well some for personal reasons and some for others / I may find a quote that will inspire an entire photo shoot or bring back a personal memory that will inspire an entire song.

I'll be closing out on that.
